Ingredients
- ½ cup old-fashioned oats
- 1 cup milk or water (milk makes it creamier)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar (adjust to taste)
- ½ teaspoon maple extract (or 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup)
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- ⅛ teaspoon salt (enhances flavor)
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds
- (Optional: chopped nuts or fruit for topping)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, add the oats, milk (or water), cinnamon, and salt. Stir well.
- Once it starts to simmer, reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the brown sugar, maple extract (or syrup), and chia seeds. Let it cook for another 1–2 minutes, allowing the chia seeds to absorb liquid and thicken the oatmeal.
- Remove from heat and let it sit for a minute to thicken further.
